2018 Offshore Series - Races 7 & 8 - Cherbourg & Back

The SORC 2018 Offshore Series is concluded with interesting and close results!
Light airs did not detract from very close competition in the final two Offshore Series races, from the Solent to Cherbourg and back, with some close results and a maiden SORC win for Richard Clark on his Sun Fast 3200 "Fury".

2018 RIOW - Solo Round the Isle of Wight

Contessa yachts dominate in a fast rounding of the Isle of Wight
34 solo skippered yachts competed in this years SORC RIOW race around the Isle of Wight. This annual iconic SORC race did not disappoint and was hotly contested throughout the fleet which was evenly divided between Class 1 and 2 and with 3 Class 3 boats.

Light and variable winds dominated the SORC Guernsey & Sark Offshore Race Weekend, but we have a new star in SORC with Nikki Curwen, who won both of the races which were completed.

Oi Oi wins the Cowes to Weymouth race

2018 Offshore Series races 1 & 2 to Weymouth & Back

Testing variable conditions gave everyone a chance
Rather than go the traditional route out of the Western Solent, SORC sent the fleet from Cowes to Weymouth around the Eastern end of the Isle of Wight to create a true overnight challenging race with tides amd light airs to contend with. The race back on Sunday remindeds us why we go sailing, with a superb dose of sun, warm airs and a pleasant downwind breeze.

Jester wins Race 3

2018 Inshore Series - Races 3 & 4 to Poole & Back

4 races down and the results at the top show a 3 way tie
Conditions for the SORC Inshore Series races 3 & 4 to Poole and back favoured the faster boats. The competition at the top is impressively close with Bellino, Jester and Fastrak all tied on 12 points in Class 1, closely pursued by Roxanne and Game On both tied on 17 points. In Class 2, Amy Lou has extended her lead with two bullets over the weekend.

2018 Solent Shakedown Weekend

Inshore Series Races 1 & 2 keenly contested to start of the 2018 season
A good entry of 24 boats was a great start to the 2018 SORC season. Both Classes 1 and 2 were well represented and keenly contested. The scene is set for some very close competition in 2018 amongst the seasoned soloists, and a good number of new faces are appearing on the scene.

2017 OVERALL SEASON

Awards ceremony was held at the Royal Southampton Yacht Club
The SORC 2017 season was signed off at the Royal Southampton Yacht Club on Saturday 27th January 2018, when the overall season prizes were awarded and a couple of talks were presented.
