Channel Week - Conclusion
All twenty two boats that started in Lymington over a week ago arrived safely back in Lymington on Saturday afternoon, which given two days of pretty difficult weather is testimony to the abilities and determination of all the skippers taking part. In particular big praise to the skippers taking part in Channel Week for the first time.
The week itself was fantastic – hard racing, lots of parties, great food, a wonderful group of people with a very friendly atmosphere and even a game of Cricket on the beach!
Paddy Cronin on HOD 35 Psipsina emerged as the overall winner under IRC with 9pts after some close competition from Race Director Peter Olden on A35 Solan Goose of Hamble who finished second with 14 pts and Chris Rustom on Stuart 37 Ding Dong in third with 21 pts. Rob Cragie on J122 JBellino was also an early contender with two bullets in the first three races and finally finished 4th with 23 pts. Barry Hurley on JOD 35 Dinah and Nick Martin on J105 Diablo J finished joint 5th with 34pts.
IRC Class 1 was won by Solan Goose of Hamble with JBellino second and Ding Dong third.
IRC Class 2 was won by Psipsina with Diablo J second and Dinah third.
IRC Class 3 was won by Herve Dupriez on Beneteau 31.7 Penrod with Mike Saqui on Mustang 30 Restless second and level on points at third place were SORC Director Jerry Freeman on Capo 35 Santana and Carl Wilcox on Projection 920 Wee Bear.
The Rookie division was won by Mike Saqui on Restless with Matt Lingley on the one off ROC second and Simon Mitchell on Beneteau 31.7 Aquilo third.
