Class Mini 6.50
Class Mini 6.50 is the traditional path into a solo racing career and provides the ideal boats and the vital community for solo skippers to develop their skills and to gain experience in highly competitve and very well organised one design fleets.
All the top solo racers have served their time in the mini fleets, Michel Desjoyeux, Sam Davies, Ellen MacArthur and Brian Thompson for example. Our own Paul Peggs and Simon Curwen (J105 Voador) were very active in the class in 2000, Simon remains the top scoring Brit, second overall in 2001 Mini Transat. More recently Phil Sharpe and Nick Bubb have graduated from the mini fleet.
Opportunities for solo racing in mini in the UK are limited and solo offshore racing club welcomes class mini boats into all its solo races for 2010. Two handed races are possible in the RSYC double handed series.

A big storm in Biscay rolled Paul Peggs' boat and Paul was rescued by helicopter, the boat was later salavaged and re built. |
