Edith wins the final Race and the Inshore Series

Solo Offshore Racing Club’s final race of 2011 took place in perfect conditions. Starting from Quinnell, near Lepe Spit, seventeen yachts setting off to windward into 10 to 15 knots southerly breeze to Elephant buoy just off the island. The majority on port tack start just low of the lay line, class one yachts Solan Goose, Jbellino and Anticipation soon setting the pace. At Elephant the bear away to Aquaspec heading west down the Solent with the tide, some thought too tight but Solan Goose, Jbellino, Voador, Edith and Fastrak V111 all set spinnakers for an easy reach. After a short beat south across the Solent  and  two mile run the final leg was a close fetch in little tide back to a finish at Gurnard. Solan Goose, Voador and Anticipation holding the mainland shore for less tide while others took the rhumb line.
Rob Craigie on J122 Jbellino took line honors, once race officers David Giddings and Kirsteen Donaldson calculated the IRC handicaps Mike Saqui on Elan 333 Edith was first by two minutes from Solan Goose ahead of Voador by twelve seconds.
The yachts then gathered up the Medina for Annual prize giving supper at the Folly Pub.
